Forest bathing is a slow-paced, therapeutic guided walk that promotes wellness through a series of gentle, sensory-opening invitations. Studies have shown a wide array of health benefits to being in nature, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for helping to stabilize mood and improve cognition. Connie Svoboda, a trained Forest Therapy Guide and part of Black Hawk County Conservation staff, will lead public monthly forest bathing experiences at Hartman Reserve and other Black Hawk County Parks April through November in 2020. Private walks for organizations and families, and business retreats are welcomed: contact Connie at 319-277-2187 to schedule a walk. In addition, special forest bathing events for the public will be offered.
The first special event is a Winter Forest Bathing event on February 2 at Hartman Reserve. Deadline to sign up is January 27, 2020. Participants must provide an email address so that Connie can email instructions specific to the event. Sign-up is limited to 10 participants.
